Today I am not going to talk about how it is going on the felt in 888poker world, not because it is going bad because I'm still running deep and getting my cashes (though have taken a slight loss in last couple of days). Instead I want to write a blog on the lighter side of life and hopefully amuse you at the same time (see how this goes shall we).
This incident took place on Monday night, I got in from work and the girlfriend said to me "What you doing tonight?". I fire off the usual reply "Don't know yet but there are no my888 tournaments tonight so no poker", the girlfiend suggests "So can we sit on the couch with the duvet and watch rubbish on the TV?", I answer "Yeah but got to go on the forum first and post a reply to a thread". So the deck has been shuffled and our starting hands are dealt.
Unfortunately on Monday night as I was posting on Nitevenom's hand of the day thread, Sean decided to try to tempt me in to playing poker by unveiling some new my888 tournaments, one of which was taking place that night (bad man Sean trying to lead me to temptation).
So I walk in to the front room and make a tentative pre-flop raise and say "There is a new tournament tonight". The girlfriend snap calls and shoots me a look... come on guys you all know the look, it is the one that looks like a cow passing wind.

The flop comes down and the girlfriend shoves all-in with the following, she sighs and utters "If you want to play the tournament you can if you want". anyone in a relationship knows she may have well retorted "Do want you want" which translates as "Do want you want but it better be the right choice i.e. what I want to do". I think for a moment maybe she's bluffing but in the end instant fold and concede with "No I said I wasn't playing poker we can watch TV".
Well managed to dodge that bullet and avoid a hissy fit. Was it a great read... no just been in a relationship for 5 years and used common sense.
See you at the tables.
