Poker players and especially tournament poker players are all about the titles. Making the final table at the annual World Series of Poker Main Event is the ultimate dream of many poker pros, semi-pros and amateurs -well Team 888poker's Russell Thomas is trying to do it three times in less than 12 months.

Poker players and especially tournament poker players are all about the titles. Making the final table at the annual World Series of Poker Main Event is the ultimate dream of many poker pros, semi-pros and amateurs.

Team 888poker Pro, Russell Thomas has kind of been there and done that. After making the final table of the 2012 WSOP Main Event, is there much else left to achieve? The Main Event in Vegas has notoriously been the creator of poker firsts and poker history. It's where Stu Ungar won three titles, two back to back-to-back and Doyle Brunson made five final tables.

Arguably winning the whole thing would have been the icing on the cake for Russell, but just getting there is a massive accomplishment. Finishing fourth is nothing to be sneezed at, because the journey to making final tables at main events can be littered with minefields.

However, Russell Thomas has been on a bit of a roll since his best career finish in October, 2012 at the WSOP Main Event. At the first-ever WSOP Asia Pacific (APAC) tournament he proved that lightning can strike in the same place, twice.

Against all odds, he played well enough to make the final table and snag eighth place in the WSOP APAC Main Event. With no slouches amongst the final elite players, Russell found himself up against the likes of Daniel Negreanu, who ultimately won the tournament, netting him his 5th WSOP bracelet.

So with two final tables in less than one year, what else can we expect from Russell? Does he have a third one up his sleeves? If we consider the past schedules for WSOP events through October 2013, we can see whether or not he'll have the opportunity to make 888poker elite history. The WSOP Europe Main Event usually takes place in early October, so a final table at this event could be his third.

Making back-to-back final tables at the upcoming 2013 WSOP Main Event in Vegas would be an enormous feat, previously only realized by professionals like Stu Ungar and Dan Harrington. However, seeing as the final table will more than likely take place later in the year it would fall outside of the twelve month limit.

But hey, who are we to be sticklers for dates and places! We're pretty certain that Russell wouldn't turn his nose up at a 2013 WSOP Main Event final table. After all, it's all about the titles and for Team 888poker Pros, the more the merrier.
