James wants to send a new fishing rod to his brother John as a birthday gift. Unfortunately where his brother lives there are import rules that forbid any package longer than 4 feet to be imported.

The fishing rod is 6 feet long, so how can the fishing rod be mailed to John without breaking the rules? Or cutting it or bending it?

Insert the fishing rod into a box which measures 6 feet on all sides, the fishing rod will fit within the diagonal of the box with room to spare.

Good answer ... assuming you meant 4 feet on each side of the cube then you could almost get a 7 foot rod in.

If they have a really fast postal service then relativity will shrink the rod to the right size ... but dont try this one at home.

CORRECT:

Place the fishing rod diagonally across the box from A to B

Using Pythagoras's theoorem.

(A to D) = 4

(C to B) = 4

(D to C) = 4

Therefore (A to C) = â

OK

NO GOOGLING

John, Paul, and Ringo are in a competition. Here are their results:

The youngest person received the least points.

Paul got half of the points of the eldest.

John received as many points as both others combined.

Question:
Who is the eldest ?
