Well the British have Englebert (I didn't know he was still alive) and the Irish have Jedward, again. Looks we have already thrown in the towel me thinks.... BBC hit by a Humper ding-dong as it's swamped with complaints over UK’s Eurovision entry
The BBC has been swamped with complaints after picking Engelbert Humperdinck to sing Britain’s entry at the Eurovision Song Contest. The crooner, whose hits include Release Me and The Last Waltz, will be 76 by the time he takes to the stage in Baku, Azerbaijan, on May 26 to perform an as yet unnamed song.
Many viewers made their complaints on the BBC’s website. Joseph Leather called the move ‘absolutely shocking’.
He added: ‘With the Olympics and Diamond Jubilee this year, it’s the perfect occasion to show the UK as a young hip place to be, not stuck in the past which you have clearly done.’ Another, called magnificentpolarbear, wrote: ‘What sort of message does this send to the world? 'That in 2012 there are no up and coming performers that can represent the UK? ‘Or maybe the strategy is to win by gathering the middle-aged women vote from all across Europe.’ A BBC spokesman said the choice of Humperdinck ‘has been the subject of much heated debate’, but added: ‘We are delighted by the overwhelming and largely positive response.’

So, what are your thoughts on the Eurovision Song Contest.
Do you love it or hate it?
Do you throw a Eurovision party or avoid it at all costs?
What was your favourite Eurovision song?

As far as votes are concerned it really doesn't matter who sings for us tbh!
Last year I amazed my gf by telling her who would vote for a country and which country would give top vote to which other country. I was litterally right 90% (or much more) of the time. The easten bloc countries vote for other eastern bloc countries the scandanavians vote for each other.
Its all to do with Politics and national affinity etc and not much to do with the music. So its more of a European popularity contest than a music contest which (of course) explains how we keep finishing with nil points so often!

I didn't know that Eurvision was still alive Ireland can't afford to host Euorvision so Jedward are a safe bet unless you can get Father Ted I also agree with IKP, we could enter Adele and still lose

Excellent point Awf! It all makes sense now, Ireland can't afford diddley squat at the moment and after the outlay on the Olympics, England sure as hell don't want to be the party host again so soon. I get it!

Well said, Awf
Apart from the political note I'm only aware that it has a huge gay following these days.
