I have read all the blogs for the February BOTM competition.

Wkd asked you to name your 9 poker players;
You are already seated.
Why invite them?
Their playing style?
And their presence on the table.

If you have answered all these questions - Well Done. I thought the people that added all these ingredients were;
  • Jackstar
  • Sofia
  • Judith
  • Cryptic
  • Jeanie
  • Ari
  • Daryl
  • Andy ( Sitout )

Some people also thought outside of the box- added scenery, suspence etc. This gets you a bonus point in my eyes. Smile

I liked the end of Sofia's blog  -"Oops, I’m just now looking down on a beautiful flop of A, J, 3. Gus leads out and I’m now thinking about how to play my JJ…

Jeanie
started off with a lovely scenery description, but I felt she didn't type enough about the players.

Ari thought outside of the box and started off with a great setting and added the player s style/ presence well.

Andy added a nice scene aswell and gets a bonus point from me.

Daryl had it all. but I think it was too much.

The rest didn't make the grade in my eyes and I will tell you why;

Celtic joker  -  I know some old-skool bloggers will frown upon pictures in a blog. But I quite liked this. It was easy to read and pleasing to the eye. However, I thought it was more of a history lesson though.

Badea - I felt this was another history lesson,  the layout could have been better.  I think the players style/ presence could have been more included.

Now after this I couldn't be bothered reading any more blogs. So now it's short and snappy;

Malcolm - Layout could have been better.

Bryan - Started well but then faded away Frown

sweetbat - Abit all over the place? The layout could have been better and could have typed more.

Donnie - The layout could have been better.

Jeanette - Abit all over the place

Omahacerts - The layout could have been better.

So here goes my top 3;

3rd place - Ari

2nd place - Sofia

1st place - Andy

I'am amazed that I have 12 votes - it does not look right, Ari only with 4 votes? Sofia with 5? But Andy a well deserved 9.

You can't see who's voting for who - I think this is wrong. And I have suggested this to change already.

Anyway I would like to know what you all thought about the blogs?
What was good and what needs improved?
Name your Top 3 blogs...
And finally, who agree's with me that you should see who has gave a thumbs up to the blogs?

It goes to Facebook now - anything can happen. I don't have facebook. I think whoever has the most Facebook friends between Cryptic and Badea will win. But here is hoping all the 150,000 - 888Poker facebook fans will all take part ! Laughing

YouAlwaysWin you are right, I could have done better, I realized that when I seen the others blogs, but I didnt wanted to edit my blog, it was uploaded and thats it, no edit and hope for the best. I thinked that the competition would be more tight than this. In the end...I`m definitely happy with this.

The first time we do new things here there is nearly always imput on how it could be improved or changed.

All feedback is taken into consideration if the offer/competition whatever continues but sadly 100% of the people will never be happy so we have to strike a happy medium.

The blog competition has brought new members, enticed long standing members to take part and nudged forgetful ones to become involved more. Also for whatever reason it has created a lot of posts which in the long run is good for us all.

YouAlwaysWin,

1.However, on my blog page you have left a comment;"You scratch my back, and i'll scratch yours" which translates into "You vote for me and i'll vote for you".

2.There is such a thing as being gracious in victory.So offering a negative critique on anyones blog is completely uncalled for.

3.Everyone has offered a completely different perspective and they all had something positive to tell.I'm pretty sure some of the entrants knew their blog was not perfect but thought they would have a go anyway.

4. Hypocrite...

1.The comment which I left on your blog "You scratch my back, and i'll scratch yours" - Was in reply to Andy's comment. My comment stated what Andy's comment meant. It was not to suggest I will vote for you if you vote for me.

2. I have not won and I'am using constructive criticism - I have left positive feedback too.

3. Yip, it was great that alot of people took part.

4. False.

I would not get involed in a spat with any one that made the effort to write a bolg and add something to the forum. In the end that's what this comp was set up to do and thats great to see and read.

My vote for best bolg was for James's loved the way he thought out of the box but he picked out a great theym and top line up ... i was so sad that he backed out of the comp. I think part of his problem was with me for asking for votes ....to James i say your a great blogger and i have always enjoyed your blog you add some great insight so dont stop ..... i dont always agree but they are a great read and i have given my counter view if i disagree.

As he backed out people were asking for votes ...... and didnt like it ...... well yes i was asking for votes but this is just my opinion ....this was a good comp and yes i was hopeing to win but i didn't thats fair enough. I only asked/hinted for votes in the right threads .... if you want to promote your blog i see nothing wrong.... but if i wanted to cheat i have 300 aprox friends in the forum message section and an other 200 and a good pm sent to those people could have go alot of votes .... did i do that NO

So I have started this month blog (not posted yet)..... to James i hope you put your story down would love to know your poker roots..... in the end this is a comp but it is aimed to boost the forum and i look forward to reading everyones blogs ..... well done to this months winners and for those that posted their first blogs well done and get posting this month

YouAlwaysWin,

Alright, fair enough, i may have mis-interpreted the comment you left on my blog.In all fairness you did actually heckle Andy in someone elses blog with the remark:"Just let it happen naturally".

Personally, i don't have a problem with people trying to improve their chances through self-promotion, and i have no problem with the way the competition was handled - it seemed fair enough to me.

My response was not a case of 'sour grapes' because i did not win.There were many better blogs than mine, yours included.

It's a shame a woman didn't enter the top three comsidering they accounted for roughly a quarter of the blogs.

One thing we can agree on: The Hangover is the last 'really funny movie' to come out of Hollywood.

i have no problem with Youalwayswin or James or Gareth the whole point was to shake up some chat and i think it was a winner ..... and your right Gareth a shame that none of the girls made the top 3 ...... I know some of the girls it was their first try at a blog .... and i think that should be encouraged.

 Just at thought that i hope wkd could take to Sean and i know it proberbly will not happen in the march comp.....(but maybe the may one) the budget is $400 for the top 3 blogs..... how about a change keep $300 for the top 3 blogs say 150/100/50 for the top 3 ......but then run a bloggers freeroll for the top 9 blogs that pays 50/30/20 and that would bring more into the comp. and encourage new bloggers .... girls included. When i started blogging it was quite depressing getting no responce. i think a FR would help reward those who are trying.

Well thats just my thoughts

Andy,

I think your onto something there.

Cryptic does mention in his post that all feedback will be considered.So, who knows, maybe your idea will come to fruition.

All the best with your new blog - i'm looking forward to reading it.

Regards...

When you mention the word freeroll - I lose interest, I hate them. But I do think all the members who have made a blog are rewarded somehow. A small freeroll - that's a much better game than 1000+ players. I think that is a great idea now Andy. Cool
