Brian if you are getting the impression I am knocking your every idea then I truly apologise.It was not my intention. I did however get the impression you had not played live and the online game and live are worlds apart. Whereas you have an instant shuffle,automatic deal and 20-30 seconds decisions in the online game,all of these are greatly extended live.Every hand has to be manually shuffled and dealt,decisions can be two-three minutes per hand,if its not an experienced dealer,cards can and are dropped,misdeals etc etc. I am merely trying to be of assistance in making this a proper event and pointing out the time needed for blinds to make the game playable and enjoyable. I am involved with live poker,organising or playing virtually seven days a week and was just trying to pass my experiences on. The buy-in is something else I have been banging on about and I still feel £50 is too high.I know from experience that when you have 50 people say they are coming at a certain buy-in you are doing well if half eventually turn up.Wait and see how many wives,sons,daughters,relatives or pets suddenly get struck down with illness or have an accident on the week of the occasion if we set the weekend at a level too much for a lot of people.If that sounds cynical then it is because I've been there,done that,seen that and I am not wanting to turn up to an unmitigated disaster for this forum if it can be avoided. Before we go much further with buy-ins etc I feel we really need to know the involvement,if any,of 888. We dont seem to have taken into account the cost of the venue.Are the tables to be self dealt or dealer dealt?Are they putting on food or are we organising a buffet ourselves(which would cut costs enormously) Depending on numbers and the above the venue can cost £2000- £5000 for the weekend.Are 888 willing to get a venue and sponsor it or are we footing that bill as well as buy-ins etc. I think I've said enough now but I will finish by apologising to you Brian if I have offended or disrespected you in any way.It was not my intention

Sorry everybody Things have slowed down a bit on this while we try to gain information of 888's involvement if any, hopefully we can get back on track soon, in the meantime we really can't sort much out as there is no point setting everything up just to have to change everything again Please keep giving ideas, and remember we will sort out all of the ideas and try to come up with an event that suits, but everybody's ideas will help with that decision I would also like to give my opinion on this event When I decided to see if we could get this up and running, I did it as a chance for our members to meet up live, have a few drinks, a few laughs, play some poker and generally get to know the people they chat to online most days, to my way of thinking the actuall meeting should be our main point of focus, with the poker and 888's involvement secondary to that, we all want an event to remember, and we will work towards making it possible for as many to attend as possible, after all what's the point of an event where people are priced out? But of course if the poker is to be the main focus then I am happy to go down that route, but as allways the members will decide

i think wiggy is spot on, to me it's more of a social, i understand senior members/players wanting a big buy in & fair enough, smaller buy in's wont excite them, i just hope enough of us newbies turn up so we could perhaps have a cheaper game? & a few beer's  thank's to all the organisers for the time your putting into this  PapaOfGags

I've been worrying about the main event cost as you know and do agree totally with Wiggy that it is just as important to be a great social event as it is a live poker event,therefore we want the maximum number of members to attend and be involved. Could I have your thoughts on the following; Friday Evening(For the early birds)and Saturday(late morning onwards)until Start of Main event(which can only be determined by number of players(approx),chip stack and blind time)whether it is a late Sat afternoon or Sunday start. A continuous series of sng's(10 man) at £1 entry + casino rake of course. First two get ticket to a ten man sng(direct buy-in £5)also running continuously.If main event buy-in is £25 this would give 2 tickets to main event for a £1 or a £5 stake. If buy-in is £50 then one ticket would be available. Whatever is decided on main event buy-in the stakes in the sng's can be adjusted accordingly.Without a doubt the venue wherever it is would supply tables for us to run these sng's continuously.Perhaps on the Friday(depending on numbers attending early doors)the sng's should be 5/6 man. This is in addition to any online sats arranged. I am just giving food for thought but it does seem a way around the buy-in for those on a budget and is a fun way to qualify. I will crunch some numbers on the machine later(or tomorrow as I'm playing at my live game tonight)and see what time we require for a good blind time tourny based on diff numbers of players and I will fiddle with the starting stacks and try to come up with something realistic

great idea crispy as ever and i for one support it 100% the idea of sats has always been foremost in my mind its the way i qualify for all of the major tournaments on here on a daily basis seems to me to be a win win situation

Last time we did this lots of players after being involved in maybe only 1 hand myself included were at shove or fold very early on the stack size and or blind structure must change I think to allow more play .
