Yep, we have had them two years in a row Sharon, we are hoping to make it a third but no details are being confirmed at the moment as it is still in the discussion period.

They have both been extremely great fun with many of meeting up for the first time and becoming great friends. You would love Sharon, lots of drinking, eating and plenty of live forum poker. I'm just off to find some links to threads of our past bash's for you....

;)

Oooh sounds great!! This is one of the many reasons I joined this forum :)

Don't forget to look after me wkd.. I'm making it your responsibility to help overcome my shyness lolol

Sharon

I am a very shy person myself Sharon! lol -
Nah at the birthday bash no1 is really shy IMO cos we are all very friendly etc and it is so well organised (and of course a few beers helps things).

The main reason I enjoyed the birthday bash is the craic. Meeting up with all the forum guys was great. The bday bash 2011 was my first and I am pretty sure I will make the trip over (from Northern Ireland) every year cos it is so enjoyable.

BTW the poker prizepool was also pretty descent and the games were defo enjoyable.

Defo don't miss out!

But we shud really be getting a bit of progress now folks.

Cue Sean!

+1
I think April or May is only realistic timeframe for various reasons.

Why does everybody keep saying Sean needs to announce something soon?

This was an event set up by the members for the members, 888 get involved if they want to (which they have in both previous years) but this was the members live event

There has been talk of running this alongside the superstack (which I personally don't like) if that happens is it really our event? I was looking into using the Birmingham superstack venue when the superstack was in London, but their terms and conditions could see some people ejected from the event (not something that appeals) we have gotten away with murder at stoke for the last 2 years but the bigger venues wont stand for those antics so I'm looking into other options

There is also a live event in Febuary which some of our members are at which means early March isn't ideal this time, the IPO is in April which means I was looking to May (as posted in this section) I haven't actually stopped looking into this and will talk to Sean about it when the time is right, but as you can imagine I have had a lot to do over the last couple of months and this has taken a back seat, but I have most of the details of the last couple of years to hand so I can get things going quickly when needed

If you want this to be an 888 live event that's fine, but personally I would rather we organised this and 888 looked into reviving the 888 UK open which would raise their profile yet again

So I suppose the question is is it the weekend or the prizes that are important?

For me it is all about the weekend, not the free drinks or the extra prize money, rather the experience of playing live poker with the people I play on-line poker with.
And I am happy with pretty much any dates, just as long as I have a reasonable bit of notice (Like everybody) I guess. And I dont mind too much where we go, have to say Star City  Birmingham is a great location, plenty to do there for non poker players, and a great casino.
But I have also enjoyed Stoke for last 2 years, I am looking forward to all meeting up again, so cheers wiggy, hope you can come up with another good birthday bash

Jeanie Smile

ps   If I can do anything to help, I am perfectly willing.

I am quite Happy to Help with this again, even if the venue is not in stoke, but if it is to be in Stoke orBirmingham I suggest the Genting Casino as a venue.

I have got to know the staff quite well at the Circus Casino in stoke and would highly recomend it its larger and very up to date, just as I would the Star city at Birmingham ( although the Hotel Facilities in my opinion are not as good as The Moat House), but saying that I believe other Hotels are available in the area.

So I suppose the question is is it the weekend or the prizes that are important?
The prizes that Sean put on last year was a major bonus, but just getting together and playing live is a brilliant experience, so maybe if we want prizes or bigger prize pools we should consider a kitty from ourselves to make up the prizes (Thats just an Idea). and a higher buy in to the main game giving a bigger payout.

As I say I am willing to help and organise the trophies again as last years went very well and something similar can be done, and as the local mason now has the templates some of that cost has already been covered so they shouldnt be as expensive this year.

I suggest around May time as that seems to be the popular month at the moment but even if its a month later its still a good opportunity to celebrate the Forum.

I have quite a bit to sort out this month myself, but we do need to start making moves re Hotels venues etc, even if Sean does want to get involved as wiggy said its our celebration lets get started.
