Bed in staggering distance ...... fine. What's the weekend like for non-poker players (better halves etc) ? :-)
Hi Gary for non poker players quite a few things to do in the area, Cinema, Bowling shopping all close by, and as D said above a big music concert is on and thats not very far away from the casino so the area will be busier than normal, (if anyone is travelling down on the day maybe allow a bit of extra time as some of the artists are big names in the pop world and traffice might be busier than normal). They have a live cabaret at the casino on Saturdays too ( dont know who is on yet but will try and find out).
for players wanting a game on friday the casino ....
9-15pm startFriday £2k grtd £30+3 freezeout (one re entry is allowed before first break) 8000 chips,1500 bonus chips for early reg before 8-45pm. 60 minute late reg
also a nl cash game normally runs just after 10pm minimum £25, but also £5 cash game available if enough reg for it,
(both cash games are available on saturday as well if anyone has the miss fortune to go out the main game early, and sng's can be organised between ourselves with the casinos permission, self dealt.
Saturday also has a 9-15pm £1k grtd freeroll, 50p fee, £10 rebuy and or add on (90Mins). 60 minute late reg
Another casino nearby has an omaha pot limit game earlier in the evening on the saturday if anyone wants details just pm me, but would hope all will be too busy at the Circus
See you all soon Malc

I expect there will be plenty of "entertainment" after the few beers

For those coming to stoke on trent for the first time, there is a big concert going on over the weekend not far from the venue, so just consider allowing a little extra time for travel..once you are here thats no problem, for those not staying overnight venue is very easy to find from both Junction 15 if you are travelling up from the south, and junction 16 from the north.
Local Taxi's from the station to the hotel should be no more than around £5, taxi number if you want is 01782 844444

good stuff Malc, I am flying into Birmingham on the Friday (land at 3.15), I am assuming best method is to get train to Stoke again?
Which station am I getting of at though? or is there only one in Stoke? I can't rem from last birthday bash.
Anyone else going to be about Birmingham around 3.30?

hi Daryl Yes, only one station in Stoke-on-Trent. Looks like there are trains every half hour from Birmingham International to Stoke (one direct and one you have to change at Wolverhampton). [Direct train leaves at 38 mins past the hour, changing one is at 9 mins past the hour. Both take about 1hr 15mins.] When do you go back? If you leave Stoke at 9.44 (arrives Brum International at 11.05) or later on Monday you can get an "off peak return" for £19.

Ah thats great, yeah shud make the direct train at 38mins past then.
Flight home leaves B'ham at 4.05, so probably be looking to get a train around 12.30 or 1 I guess.
So I assume I am best to just buy return then when I arrive at B'ham airport?

Yep - buy a return ticket when you get to the airport station. They'll probably ask you when you're travelling back, just to make sure they're giving you the right ticket.
Trains on Monday:
departs 12.07, arrives 13.13 (direct) departs 12.44, arrives 14.05 (change at Birmingham New Street)
With an "off peak return" you're not restricted to a particular train either, so you go a bit earlier or later if you want.

I'll be up first thing Saturday morning in time for the teapot game!
Will be watching the England game from the comfort of my own sofa on Friday night (so I can get away with swearing at the tv)
