The bottom table in this video is the hand I want to post about.

I limped with the intention of reraising any possible steal from another player.

When I was raised I went all in but in fact was up against a good hand not a steal.

Were my intentions correct?

OK I know I was lucky to catch my ace but even if I has raised I think the betting would have ended up more or less the same?

What do you think?

It is fruitless to become lachrymose over precipitately departed lacteal fluid.

Thought I would put a hand up for people to give an oppinion. Yes I won the hand but that is not the reasion I have posted it ... The question is did I get the most chips from the hand and could you have got more?

2 players involved its about the 50th hand delt

I am on 10,700 in chips and in the small blind, Villan is on 22,900 in chips in early position. Table avrerage stack is about 6k in chips. Blinds are 100/200

As I say I'm delt JJ in the small blind, Villan opens the bet from early position with a bet of 400 rest of the table folds so it comes round to me in the small blind I flat call and the bb folds. The flop comes 6h Jc 9s, I check, villan checks.
4th steet comes 6h Jc 9s Ac I bet 750 into a 1000 pot villan calls.
5th steet comes 6h Jc 9s Ac 6s I bet 1250 into a 2500 pot villan calls.

I win with full house. Villain shows As 5h

I finish with 13.390 villan on 20,512 ..... I had my reasions to play the hand as I did.

The question is would you have done it differently?

not sure what your or the villan's table image is , but I believe you could have made a bet on the flop and been called checked the turn and villan would have bet thinking  the ace he /she held was now good .. but as I say not sure of what your table image was at the time

perhaps you can  tell us  what your reasoning was to play the hand the way you did Smile

The dreaded  J J  ... you fought the battle and won after flop play ... most advice say's that if you don't take it down pre flop you won't win after

@ Andy's JJ
Dreading a dirties handing coming up is there a right way wrong way to play them lol
but here goes.

my sb facing a min raise straight a way I want to get some more chips in the pot so i'm re-raising here maybe 900-1000 (can't really comment any more now its played out different).

as played you flat call and hit the nuts flop you can't really do anything else but check back here. turn gives a tastey ace now you 3/4 pot bet nothing wrong (I could just of easy checked back hoping for some action) you get the call then fill up on the river now you just 1/2 pot bet (think you should be betting at least 3/4 pot or 4/5) Abit of value missed.
but the problem for me is right from the start I'm 99% of the time re-popping pre here.
He might of just fold to a re-pop but so be it.

I'd like to here your thoughts !

@andys jj, I'm playing this hand exactly as u did except I'm betting 1750 at the river, I think u missed some extra at the end . Having said that if the guy is raising pre alot and is abit of a fish/ donk I think I might raise it up pre- flop

@ Chris theres a limp and we are 1 of the button with AK now this is where my notes would come in, as its 6 handed i wouldnt have limped with a strong hand in that postion as its just letting the blinds come in. Now i know your intention was that you were shipping in to any raise as your notes must have told you that players after you were lag. So with that info id prob do the same but if no info id raise up pre, if the reraise comes in which it did i would then reraise but i wouldnt have pushed allin. If he pushes allin and with our stack do we want to be at best 50-50 are in our case worse 70-30. It all depends on each situation but i have folded in that spot with same hand and big pairs, probably why im not a good tourney player as play to tight.
I think AK is over rated and see many players go bust with it, but i got snapped of by our D on same night with AQ calling two allins with it, she got quads by the way crushing my Kings and other guys Jacks. So maybe i need to gamble more in tourneys.

@ Andy with JJ in that postion id be reraising, there will be to many flops that come with overcards and playing out of postion is never great with Jacks.
I can see why you played this way if your plan is to set mine and fold if miss and high cards come.
When flop comes its happy days and id be checking, turn brings Ace  and thats a good card for our villain to rep and think if we could check again he would bet at us, with 2 clubs out we could reraise min and he may put us on draw and repop its all ifs and buts but id have checked again when Ace came we may well have had a double up.

Thanks for the feed back...... I think you are about right i think I may have left some value on the table on 5th street but thats one of my game faults.

My thought process was.....

I dont like JJ so thats why i just flat called pre flop... if i missed would have no problem binning them.

The villan had been quite active so when i hit with the flop I checked in the hope that the villan would do the betting for me.

When the Ace came on 4th i thought i would just bet and take down the pot if he had nothing but as it happened the ace hit him but he did have a week kicker so it would have been interesting if i had checked 4th street to see what he would have raised.

The half size bet on the river probebly was a little small I think he would would have payed 3/4 pot but Im not sure he would have payed a pot bet in the end.

In the end i was happy but i may well have got a little more. Thanks for the feed back

Andy

I think a reraise pre flop may have put him off as my image was pritty tight
If your going to call .... make sure you have a big pair !
