I'm going to be playing in the 100k for the first time tonight, and my initial excitement about this is slowly turning to nerves, as this will be the biggest poker game I have ever played, and whilst I do not doubt my ability to compete in this I know I will be up against some of the best players 888 can offer.

So

Can any of you who have played this game offer me any tips or advice, i.e. do you still get d0nks, f!sh, and calling stations playing this tournie, is it really loose upto first break, does it tighten up on the bubble, any insights you have from your own experience will be gratefully received.

I've never played this ,Awf, and I wouldn't begin to give you advice on how to play it.  I will say tho that when I had the opportunity to play some of the hi rollers it was a lot easier to get near to the cash than I thought.

Dub's advice is sound advice and I wish you the best of luck in this.  Don't be overawed tho, as it can cloud your judgement, it is just another game so play it as your gut tells you.

Best of luck, we'll be rooting for you. Smile

Good luck AWF  I think you can do really well  m8, just play your own style, and remember you have time on your side, 10,000 chips and 30 min blinds, no need to play rubbish hands,  no need to try and take every pot, find your feet, assess your opposition, and enjoy what should be a better standard of poker, obviously I have never actually played a game like that, Laughing the nearest has been live Super stack games, and even then with some people buying in at $258, they are not all as good as they think Wink enjoy it AWF you are a good player and will do well.

Jeanie  Smile

ps. You did well enough to win the seat didnt you?  Laughing

Best of luck. I have only played this one a few times but never cashed Frown. I will say that even with such a high buy in you still see some poor play at the start so as jeanie says you have a good starting stack so get to know your table. Just play your game. One tip I can give ya .... get your self some rest this afternoon, if you do make the final table (and I hope you do) it will be a long night. GL mate just make sure you enjoy it .

Andy

PS hope you can write a little story about you and PGTIPS were battleing it out heads up! Wink

Best of luck tonight Awf!

Don't change your game, don't believe any player is better than you, don't panic when faced with a decision, take your time to think before acting.

It doesn't take long for the initial nerves to settle, give yourself time to relax and remember, it is just a routine game of poker. The cards will come out the same whether you paid a dollar or a thousand dollars to enter. Have fun!

There are fish on all lvls just play your A game (no limping early postion A9o). And remeber you cant win the tourney in the 1st few hours so be patient and just concentrate on your table, you will soon workout who you will get your chips from. Good luck, go deep.

Well that is number one under the belt, and can't wait for number 2, early on was just like most games I had played so settled quite quickly and made a strong start, started getting into trouble after 3rd break when alot of players at my table were min raising and hands started to dry up, with hindsight I should have 3bet some of these more often but with hands I had I would have had to fold to a re-raise (happened a couple of times), and would of needed a huge pair (and I don't mean cards) to cbet if just called.

I also 3bet the KK i got early position, again with hindsight should have min raised to try and induce a call or a raise as this would have fitted with the table style more and I think I would have at least got a call rather than all the folds.

Great experience and deepest I have ran in a tournie, as in length and blinds and maybe why I started to struggle abit

I also found as you progress the players remaining got better and are harder to play against, not many openings get left for you to elbow your way into.

The biggest shock was when I took down the first hand of the tournie and thought oh wonder if I am first that would make a screen shot to keep, had a look and around 180 players had already re-bought upto 10k in chips, I certainly proved to myself you don't need to do that to run deep

I also got 3 hands with Sam Holden before I got table bumped again Smile
