Ok so you called from the BB, nothing wrong with that.

I think I would have played it differently on the flop, I would have either checked (which would have been as good as saying I think you have an Ace I give up) or more likely put a stronger bet in to see where I was, if he had called a 500-600 bet I know he has an ace, if he had re-raised i'd have known he didn't want me to hit a flush so probably has the 2 pair.

If I was going to shove (which I don't think I would) I think I would have shoved his raise following your value bet.

Nitevenom value bet, badcall raised, if i'm (nitevenom) repping the bigger hand (A10 is a legimate call from the BB) and badcall (your) willing to put money in i'd be think how much are you willing to spend and shove. If I'd got it wrong plenty of outs with 2 to come.

Where you got to though i'm definately not going beyond a call as i'm not sure if he as 2 pair

Pre-flop you call with Kh Th. I don't know much about how your opponent plays but it is a bit of a marginal hand. If you opponent is playing an orthadox 6-max game most of his raising range from mid position is crushing you pre-flop. But hey there are times I call from this spot to so no major issues.

The flop comes down Ah, 7h, Ts. This give you mid pair and a nut flush draw so you have outs, so you aren't in bad shape post flop. You lead out with a 200 bet in to a 1150 pot, this smells of a flush draw and your opponent even with one pair (Aces) will raise you here.

What I would have done is check/raise, this allows your opponent to continuation bet with air and you take the pot down on the flop. But he raised you when you bet so probably had a pair. If he shoves you it becomes simple maths of the extra amount to call divide by pot against your outs times 4. If your out odds are better than pot odds call.

If your check/raise is flat called then as long as the turn isn't a King, Queen, Jack or Ace then I would lead out by shoving.

Just my humble opinion.

lol my problem is I called and on the turn a king came as shown on the page just before this one . But I know I played it wrong and so posted...probably should have folded the hand and waited for a better one , donnie is a good player and knows I am still learning so weak and likes to test me by times . this time he had a hand lol

Pre flop you make the call with suited cards (you do like them don't you Wink ) from the bb, it's a legitimate call you are getting almost 3/1 with a hand that could flush or str8, you have 20bb's so you can fold to an un favorable flop (no pair, no hearts, no str8 possibillity) so calling here isn't the problem

here's the problem, you lead out on an A high flop with nut flush options for $200, there is $1150 in the pot and betting 1bb from out of position is wrong, betting more could prove costly if Donnie shoves over the top, check and give Donnie the decision, if he bets half the pot you can check raise him, if he bets more than half the pot you can check call him and re evaluate on the turn, if he shoves to your check raise you need to work out your odds to call and make your decision from there

Leading for 200 on the flop looks weak and the only way to make it look stronger is to re raise the re raise (more chips) so you might as well check raise, even if he checks behind you are getting a free card to make the nut flush and can re evaluate your strategy on the turn, leading out isn't always the best way to go! a check raise will often fold people but you have to do it at the right time with the right odds if your shoved back at

I lost my way with check raise as it kept not working out for me it almost seamed as though people expected it and didn't respect it, but I am now finding my way with this play again, especially  when your oppenent flat calls your check raise on the flop and you lead straight out into them on the turn, almost so quick they can't be sure you have seen the turn card,  instafold Smile

6 handed you have a fairly strong hand to defend with in bb and it would be wrong to fold in this spot and against certain players even reraising pre is correct, when the flop comes we have hit it in a big way with 2nd pair and nut flush draw.
With such a good flop we could well be ahead with the 10 and we have plenty of outs so we have to check to the raiser who will def bet out repping the Ace.

yes , I reckon I do..another tell I needs must work on . and I can now see checking was the better play to do in this case the min bet was wrong against this player and a check raise may have saved me  some chips if he then shoved.

I love these posts , not only do I gain helpful insights from others but they make me re-examine my play and from that also I gain much . Slow but sure I will get better at this.

We all love these posts venom, it gets us thinking about how we play these hands ourselves and makes us question if what we would have done is right, I know I have posted in these before and then thought is that the right thing to do, I have also posted and then thought is that what I would really do

always good to be questioning how you play and looking for new answers

a lot of great insight here

now just to make things complicated, would you all, make the same decision at bubble-time? what is right or wrong is often situational.

i read these posts all the time and I consider myself a knowledgeable player, but I pick things up here that make me cause to think, so keep up all the good advice.

chhers,

papa
