how would you play this hand ? I will go through this play by play so I can get your opinions as to where and why I may have mis-played it . I really really like the game of poker and wish to become a better player

You have small pair and are hopefully looking to hit another on the flop, utg has limped in could mean anything at this lvl but he could have limped hoping from a raise behind to reraise it. So call and see what happens from behind you prob will get 2 callers behind are even a jam from shortstack looking to gamble.

since this is pretty much what was expected , I went ahead and made the call expecting to see the flop without any more pre-flop action .

Im raising it up BB could have hit 2 pair or any straight draws, his weak bet looks like he wants turn to come cheaply. We have player behind us and we dont want him to come along, 21c in pot id raise it up by 15c. If we take it down now we may think to ourselves we should have just called to build a bigger pot, but in my experience this is wrong say the turn brings 4 but not the diamond now there is straight draws and flush draws out there and with our stack size and theres they will gamble to get to the river so even if we push we could be up against a flush draw and a straight draw. Even though we have a big edge i think over 60% there is always that 40% that get there. Give it 24hrs before you put up turn to give others a chance to have there say. If we walk into a set of 9s then thats just a cold deck.

Fixed limit makes this tricky as very long time since I last played, NL I was raisng preflop then calling the flop, with a view to raising the turn.
Fixed limit I would have still put a raise in preflop to reduce number of players having then hit the flop I would have raised the raiser as i want to generate some action or take the pot there and then.

Ok FL im playing it differently, im calling as want to get the raise in when turn comes and it costs more to other players, your raise here on flop will not gain you as much and you wont lose any 1. When turn comes im hoping he leads again and then im reraising.
