Hi Guys, You can review the applicable currency exchange rate in the cashier by clicking ‘ Exchange Rate’ underneath ‘ Amount to Deposit’ at any time. This is not a hidden rate as some of your posts have suggested. 888 remains transparent in this manner and ensures that you are aware of the amount being debited from your account -see below for an example. If you wish to change the regsitered currency of your 888poker account to US dollars, as this is the currency that 888poker operates exclusively in, then please send a request to support@888poker.com. After this is done, then all future deposit/cashout transactions will be at the current bank's exchange rate.

Hi Sean thanks for posting in this thread but I think your missing the point on some of the posts that are being raised. I dont think people are saying 888 are being none transparent and hideing the exchange rate just that 888 are not being fair when they set their exchange rate.
2 things ...... 1 the exchange rate does not affect me as I use a $ neteller account so i loose nothing either depositing or withdrawing. 2 I do like 888 and think they offer a good poker site and have some great promotions and a good forum comunitty so this issue will not drive me away.
I do think 888 are not being fair with players that this issue affects their poker experiance. It is good that you posted an example above.......
$100 in your account and £65.72 taken on your card
Well thats an exchange rate of 1.521606 a quick look on the internet makes that look poor
Thomas Cook 1.5350 Post Office 1.5320
which would give me approx $101 for my £65.72
or if you go to the major exchange sites like the one listed on page one of this thread that are open to big players like 888
Ex 1.58348 That would give me over $104 ....thats 4% more than 888 are offering
That got me thinking so I went one of 888 main rival poker sites and find that if i deposited £65.72 I would get $104.05 in my account ie exchange rate of 1.583232
Now that really got me thinking if 888 are offering an exchange rate of 1.521606 when was that listed as inter bank rate......
Well it looks July/Aug 2010 almost 2 years ago...... If 888 are charging some players over 4% to deposit and then 10% rake when they play and then charge them over 4% when the withdraw (from what i read). Thats almost 20% of a players bankroll gone to 888 if a player wants to play here. Or a player could play at a rival site and only play 11%.
I Know 888 is a bussines and a poker one.... and the poker section had a turn over of $60M last year.... but Im sure you should be making your money from the poke tables not on exchange rates (888 sould not be in the currency bussness). I know 888 offer some great promotions and it could be argued that when a player deposits he often gets an instant bonus but i think 4% charge in and out is a bit of a rip off compared to the rivals your trying to beat.
Well thats my view.
Andy
If your going to call .... make sure you have a big pair !

Purely based on the last two posts, consider the following statement taken from 888's Withdrawal Policy:
'There are no fees charged for any of our withdrawal services'
'
I would like to make it clear that I do not work for 888. This statement is from 888.com/withdrawal policy

Hi Andy, While some of your numbers are incorrect, I'll not argue that, but state that I did not miss the point. I'll reiterate again: If you wish to change the regsitered currency of your 888poker account to US dollars, as this is the currency that 888poker operates exclusively in, then please send a request to support@888poker.com. After this is done, then all future deposit/cashout transactions will be at the current bank's exchange rate.

I informed 888 over 1 month ago, that at least two Affiliate sites were making false claims regarding Exchange Rates under the 888 logo. I re-visited one of those sites today, via a fresh search in Google: 888 Poker - 888 Poker was one of the first poker sites to recognize that players want to play in their own currency and not just USD. During your account registration you will be given the option to choose your preferred currency. Once chosen, all bonuses, and deposits will be held in GBP and the same is true for cashouts. You will never need to exchange your funds at 888. Join 888 Poker today and receive a 100% up to $400 deposit bonus PLUS an extra $5 free cash.

The Top Poker Sites To Play Poker in Pounds
888 Poker Is The #1 Poker Site to Play Poker in Pounds Receive up a 100% to £400 Bonus Plus a Free £6 No Deposit Bonus You can fund your 888 Poker account in pounds, meaning you’ll avoid foreign exchange fees. However the games all play in USD. There’s no functional downside to this – it’s just a technicality that you’ll want to know about. 888 is one of the largest poker sites in pounds, and it’s obvious why – the software is superb in terms of layout and functionality, and the games are plenty fun. What’s more, the players at 888 Poker are terrible; that’s thanks to 888’s standing as not only a poker room, but a casino as well. Lots of gamblers congregate here!
