I registered with 888 using a unique email address. The address I used is not known by any other organisation or person. Today I received an email at that address entitled:
"Your username on Skype was picked to get a bonus!"
This was obviously a spam email.
What this means is that 888 has either passed my details on to a third party or their customer records have been compromised.
Have any other 888 players received the same or similar spam emails?
Can any of 888's management comment on this?

I run my own mail server so not even my ISP knows what email addresses I use.
There were only 2 entities that have any knowledge about the existance of the email adress and is 888 and myself.

Hi Terry,
888 does not sell any of our members' details to any third parties; so this is not an issue that originated from 888. Is it possible that you may have cookies on your PC that would allow a third party to capture this information and use it?

Hi Sean,
That isn't possible. I have never entered the email address into a web browser. Once my account was set up I only ever used the email address as a mailbox to receive notifcations from 888. It was never used to send any email or to receive email from any other site.
The fact that a third party has the email address indicates that someone somewhere has illegally got hold of the email address.
There is a second piece of evidence that supports it being 888 that has been compromised and it is this:
I am registered with over a dozen different gambling sites and each of them have their own email address. I also have an additional 300+ email addresses not associated with gambling. Two of these gambling sites are associated with each other and actually play their poker on the same tables. I did not realise this when I joined the second one. These 2 sites are 888 and WSOP, both of which are run by Cassava Enterprises which is an operating subsiduary of 888 holdings. In other words 888 runs them both. Out of the 300+ mailboxes I use I received the email at two of them and they were the mailboxes associated with 888 and with WSOP. Had my systems been the source then I would have expected the email to be sent to more of my mailboxes. As it is, the email was only sent to the mailboxes that 888 knows about. This is a strong indication that 888 is the source.
Since the email was afvertising AllJackpots which is operated by the Jackpot Factory Group I would start by looking at ex employees who had access to the data and who might have moved to Jackpot Factory.
