It used to be that you kinda knew who might win the English Premiership but thesedays it's almost a take your pick.

We were used to 2 maybe 3 top teams battling it out (United, Chelsea & at one time Arsenal)

Then it became the BIG 4 then THE BIG 6 but now it could argued some time soon that we might be adding another 2 or even 3 teams to this list?

THE BIG 8 anyone?

CHELSEA (i have put them first here out of respect for almost certainly winning this years title, next year i'm not so sure, can't see Guardy standing for this! he's done worse than Pellegrini! now who saw that coming? and with 3 super extra added players too)
TOTTENHAM
MANCHESTER CITY
MANCHESTER UNITED
LIVERPOOL
ARSENAL

These are what might rightly now be considered the BIG 6 of English Football.

But i can forsee a time when we perhaps add 2 (or maybe even 3 more to this list)

NEWCASTLE...are a sleeping giant with FANTASTIC support, they have a good manager in RAFA & if they are BOLD and get the signings in i can see them joining this group (if LEICESTER did it i can see NEWCASTLE getting close someday soon)

EVERTON & WEST HAM are the other two but there are concerns for those supporters i guess.

Have they the right managers? to both i'd have said yes KOMEN knows his stuff & i am a BIG FAN of Bilic...if they stick with them & back them with funds again i could see them giving these 6 a run for their money.

Everton's problems are keeping hold of players like LUKAKU (he surely will go) but i think the rumoured signing of Sigursen from Swansea would be inspired especially if losing Barkley too?

West Ham i think have the manager & the fan base & the stadium in place now...but can they get the better players in to join them? in LONDON i'd say YES but for Everton & Newcastle i'm not so sure? so with these teams it may require good management & players who fit in & don't mind living away from the likes of LONDON or MANCHESTER.

It probably won't pan out this way...with 20 clubs in the Division to have 8 BIG one's challenging might be asking a bit too much & these (so called) bigger clubs won't want it getting any more difficult than it already is to get into these TOP 4 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Spots but my point is...

JUST HOW COMPETITIVE the PREMIERSHIP has become now? even Barcelona & Real Madrid would have trouble in this league.

And of all the managers of these 9 clubs there is ONLY 1 i don't really like (i wonder if you can guess? and NO it's NOT just because he's the manager of Manchester United) YUP it's Mourinho who nearly always comes across as a whinny, argumentative & negative type.
Begrudgingly i must say that Sir Alex was indeed a one in a million manager with impressive credentials & for rebuilding a team & for me United have not found their new Fergie with him in charge...i wonder how long he will last?

GREAT TIMES AHEAD i THINK Smile and HOPEFULLY some truly CLASSIC Games?

" even Barcelona & Real Madrid would have trouble in this league." sorry paul but u are clearly deluded , the only reason the premier league has become closer is mediocrity. deli ali is the only one that could get in either of those teams!

Agree that the league is close because the English teams have fallen and their performances in europe over last few years show that.  leicester who were in mutiny were the only ones who could hold their heads high.  European football is now about Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern who are all very good to watch.  Then there is the spoilers Athletico Madrid and Juve who will fall away in coming years.

I would say Dele Alli has a place in any prem team apart from Chelsea and I would put him in that Barca team as iniestas legs are gone.

Deluded? i think NOT sir.

Let's see now...Well YES i will stick by my 'EVEN' Barcelona & Real Madrid remark (whilst agreeing with John there who said English team performances have dropped in recent times in Europe there is NO QUESTION ABOUT THAT! sadly, it used to be our teams reached the QF's, SEMI's & FINALs regularly but this will return in time) in regards that our English Premiership (mediocre to some) is NEVERTHELESS a most difficult league to win matches  & YES whilst those 2 Spanish Giants should see off mid to bottom sides i think they'd have a hell of a job with this TOP 8, 9 or even 10 sides.

I did NOT say they wouldn't be there or thereabouts at the top because clearly they would but i do think like our sides here (mediocre though some might think them! personally i think some of these teams are coming togeather well & give it another year or two & i would expect them to be a far BIGGER THREAT in EUROPE) that both Real & Barcelona would find much to occupy them here in the Premiership & for my money both would NOT finish 1 & 2 here, unlike Spain pretty much 75% of the games here can be tricky.

As for Alli...he has fallen off a little in recent weeks but no one can deny he's had another SUPERB SEASON & for me he'd walk into any of the top English sides & would surely find a place in either REAL or BARCELONA on current form.

Not to put to much pressure on the lad but as i think he can take it (i don't think he plays with FEAR) i feel he's the lad that could do GREAT things for ENGLAND especially with KANE up alongside him & their understanding.

If i were manager of CITY (and although i know this is CRAZY MONEY for a player only proven over 2 seasons!) I would stump up close to 100 Million for him.

But deluded NOPE i don't think so Smile
