I know some of these friendlies feature WEAKENED teams & such like (experimental formations) but there have been some eye raising one's of late...

ENGLAND continue to look STRONG & hopefully (for a change) will take this into the BIG Tournament over the coming weeks.

France 1-1 USA had a feeling this might be a little tricky whatever team France put out (i just don't fancy them at all)

Tunisia 0-1 Spain a very late goal won it for Spain, Tunisia are a highly ranked African side (could be the highest ranked? not checked) so it won't be a walk-over for England but i do hope we'll start with a BIG for a change but this was a little surprising but ALSO shows WHY i think ENGLAND can & perhaps WILL win this thing?

Sweden 0-0 Peru continues Peru's fine form who will play...Denmark.
Denmark beat Mexico 2-0 a mighty fine result which if anything makes this 1st group game between Denmark & Peru even harder to call?
Still fancy a draw through Smile

Yesterday Germany could only just see off Saudi Arabi 2-1

So as you can see it's a rather open World Cup & one i believe ENGLAND can take if they have the balls Wink to GO FOR IT...this COULD be one of the most interesting of WORLD CUP Tournaments in a long while for although i think BRAZIL & SPAIN will be a force THEY ARE NOT UNBEATABLE and as for Germany & France they'll be there or thereabouts despite these poor efforts but i still think they'll be lacking which leaves the door open for the likes of England, Belgium, Argentina & perhaps even a surprise or two (Peru?)

It's begining to boil up...EXCITED yet?
If your an ENGLAND fan there's every reason to suspect we could go well here.
Don't forget KANE is fresh, Rashford thanks to Mourihno (he'll probably take credit should we win it & Rashford helps Laughing) is FRESH, Alli was rested for some of the games, so too was Sterling in the last few games for CITY so no real excuses.

DO or DO NOT...there is no try Wink top marks to you if you know who sprouted those words of WISDOM?

Thanks for the analysis, Paul. You're right, there have been some interesting results. I originally thought Germany should be strong favourites, but their friendlies have been very poor - and, apparently, Saudi Arabia should have had another penalty late on.

Belgium have been looking good - as they should with de Bruyne, Lukaku and Hazard - so I'm going to go with them over Brazil (as the tourney is mostly in Europe).

I'm coming round to the idea that England might do well, but can't really see them going beyond the QF stage.

Cheers Jenny,

Germany's group is a little tricky but they should top it? i don't see the Germans going home before the KO rounds, i've got them probably meeting up with the Swiss in the last 16 & they should get through that but their attacking players are lacking thesedays i think, so i expect they'll be OUT by the QF stage where they should meet either BELGIUM or ENGLAND and as you say BOTH of these are looking good right now & either of them are more than capable of sending Germany home (i can see these two from Group G perhaps meeting up again in the FINAL)
Leaving SANE back home was CRAZY!!! even if he was disappointing in training!
NOT this time for GERMANY.

FRANCE (for me) are better than Germany...it's clear why but i am just not convinced by them, Pogba has been disappointing, Martial can have moments of brilliance but can also go missing for most of the game but they do have Griezmann & even Giroud & Mbappe but for me they're missing that SOMETHING? they are also in a VERY TRICKY Group (The Group of Death?) with PERU (like Ken my Dark Horses...if they can beat France in this group game then there is a route for PERU to go right up to the QF or even the Semi's but i think they'll need to top the group to do so, which is why this France Group (C) is so interesting as there's also Denmark & the Aussies (who can give anyone a game thesedays it seems)
QF, maybe Semi for France where they hopefully will be beaten by England or Brazil.
Like Germany i just can't see them winning it!

England QF stage KO is favourite with most folks...if they finish 1st in the group it's likely to be Brazil at this stage but whilst Brazil are favourites (as ELTON pointed out they're in fine shape) i am optimistic we can get past them, somehow, on paper there's not a huge difference in class really...in fact i would fancy us to KO Brazil & then a meeting with possibly France in the Semis.

I'm just glad your coming around to us having at least a fighters chance!
Hoping to hear on Thurday nights WORLD CUP PREVIEW that both Lineaker & Shearer have come around to the idea?

We have good players, a few GREAT World Class Players in KANE & STERLING, youngsters who could be? Loftus Cheek, Alli & as John Stones stated our defence has been GOOD (although i must say i actually have doubts about Stones, even though he's a CITY player, just seems WAY TOO CASUAL for me, so he wouldn't be in my starting 11) Southgate seems at ease as manager of England & appears to be putting the players at ease.

The England players from what little i have seem genuinely seem to be having FUN together this must HELP? Southgate has gone a little Guardiola tactically (kinda) in that the ball is played forward quickly & with purpose & to feet...England do not tend to lose the ball half as much as they did & it's a system created (it seems to me) to get the likes of KANE, STERLING, RASHFORD, ALLI, LINGARD, VARDY in on goal as quickly as possible.

I'll continue to shout it from the rooftops until we're OUT but i think ENGLAND will be a MAJOR player here in Russia...it's not out of the question we lose to Belgium (they are a very good side on paper) but still quailfy & end up meeting them again in the Final.

For what it's worth & i've been wrong plenty of times but i just have a feeling on this one...

I think the TOP 4 places (SEMI-FINALS) will be occupied by...

1) ENGLAND
2) BELGIUM
3) ARGENTINA...just think they might? get revenge on SPAIN in the QF hammered 6-1!!!
4) FRANCE

It's a SHOCK HORROR one as most would have BRAZIL going all the way to the FINAL but i have this sneaky feeling they get beat by either ENGLAND or BELGIUM?

We'll see...it may well go on to be the one everyone expects?
A BRAZIL vs SPAIN final which would be an interesting one but the ENGLAND v BELGIUM final that could be more open & interesting (whatever happens in the group game between them)

Should England go OUT at the QF stage against BRAZIL but give their best then it's all we fans can hope for, if we go out to GERMANY at this stage i must admit i'd rather disappointed.

The ENGLAND Youngsters are lining up behind this lot so i think it's looking good for us in the future...FINALLY (see what i did there...yeah i think we're going to WIN THIS THING Wink)
