Just watched the Sweden v Switzerland game & it wasn't as bad as i thought it might be, prediction was wrong again, expected the Swiss in the form they've been in to edge out Sweden but the Swedes finally took one of their chances to just about deserve it.

The good news for England fans is that we saw nothing to fear here.
The bad news is when we play Sweden it seems to nearly always end in a DRAW (so should we get past Colombia? this might be where the ET & Penalties show up?)

So with that Colombia game fast approaching i am surprisingly rather calm about it.

Some out there might know? or have seen different? but i fully expect a (fairly) easy England win, apparantly the weather is very English at the venue too, so no advantage for the Colombians.

Of course we all know World Cup & Euro Knock-Out games don't always go the way you think or expect them too but surely ENGLAND have enough about them? & are a different animal now.

Prediction 3-0 (it's about time we kept a CLEAN SHEET?) but as we've not yet done so i'll also backed a 3-1 & 2-1 scoreline to England.
Kane? Sterling? (he needs to come good if we are to win this competition & no finer time than tonight) & perhaps Stones again?

I would be surprised if Colombia go toe to toe with England & so i expect them to frustrate us & perhaps even do that thing so many South American countries do Wink (you know what i'm talking about) although if they go there & adopt those tactics i still hope England will find a way around it as VAR is now waiting Smile

COME ON ENGLAND lets have that revenge Final with Belgium Wink

Be free to to be snide & shoot me down in flames should England lose this one although if they don't play well or deserve it i think i'll join you.

Lol 170000 Columbians sign a petition to get replay.  So thats 170000 fans that have had too many funny fags then along with Maradona who is a headcase anyway.  What sort of a Fifa ambassador gives two fingers to Nigerian fans and gets away with it.  Yep Maradona.  Fifa and him are a perfect match given their respective dirty records.

To clear a few things up for the doped up Columbians.  The pen ye say was not a pen was stonewall unless WWE tactics have been legalized.  The goal ye say should have stood in extra time can not stand as there were two balls and anyway refs whistle went early and several of the English players stopped so the goal would not have happened had whistle not gone.

If thats not enough to shut ye up then what about that head butt that the wonderful VAR failed to punish properly with a Red card and Barrios should have been sent off twice over and all this happened before these other incidents meaning England should have been playing against at least 9 men.

Columbians need to sober up and they might actually see whats really going on.  England winning a penalty shoot out though.  Did that really happen?

Needed a few days to recover from that one! Smile

Also, i get the feeling, some might think i've been shouting my mouth off & getting cocky?
If that's the case...then i am SORRY...NOT MY INTENTION, that's not me.

Just wanted to create a FEEL GOOD 'Pub Talk' kind of FACTOR here & i've just simply been EXCITED at the prospect of ENGLAND going much further in this one than most gave them, i gave my reasons before the tourney started why & have already recapped them many times here (and i still think somehow it will be an ENGLAND v BELGIUM final Laughing)  i just didn't get the nonsense spurted by some ex players that we had no to little chance.

The England v Colombia Predicition was based on our play compared to theirs (Colombia are not that great) & on us getting an early goal...so that prediction BOMBED!

In the end it went the way most of us expected (you didn't need to be a genius to figure out that these tactics by the Colombians would be adopted, although it took them a awhile)

England were just about the better side but i must admit i was disappointed by them.
WALKER was found out in a role he rarely plays...expecting perhaps CAHILL to return for a central 3 of he, STONES & McQUIRE.
Delli Alli has sadly been VERY DISAPPOINTNG at this tournament along with STERLING (although i can still see the later coming good at some point with some goals!)

I think they'd have been CHANGES to the line up vs SWEDEN anyway but i would be amazed if WALKER's role wasn't changed (it's that playing players in the wrong places again) also can we afford to play ALLI from the start in the form he's currently in (& injured still?)
I fully expect to see LOFTUS CHEEK come back into the starting side?

As for this COLOMBIAN Last 16 game...

Well i was encouraged strangely enough, ok the 1st half of Extra Time our heads were understandably down but Southgate came on at half time of ET & i think SHOOK THEM UP with the reality of the situation...try to win it before penalties & they came very close to doing so.

After it ended 1-1 AET i think most England's fans hearts dropped....mine too.
It's Ok saying well eventually we have to win one of these again...before this win it was 1 win from 6  penalty shoot-outs but this was a very important one considering the draw & got the monkey off their backs...they've TRAINED for them & can DO IT.

In it's way & considering the way the COLOMBIANS played it (or rather MOANED about things) i think it was every bit as good as the 6-1 victory against Panama, although i would like to see ENGLAND get it forward more quickly & getting those shots in again.

All football fans know it's right there for them at this WC & if they don't now make the FINAL it will be a huge regret to them all but as we've seen everyone in this side of the draw will be thinking the same...we need to play to form, if we do we'll be there a week on Sunday but Sweden will not be easy!

COME ON ENGLAND

I found it odd that Columbia who play good football chose to take England on in a street fight.  Did they really think they had an edge doing that?  Premier league players are well used to negative tactics and if they played football for 90 mins they would have created more problems for England.

I think the game v Sweden is a 50-50 and will be decided by a set piece.

This England team is alot more grounded than others and know their limitations and play to their strengths and that is Southgates imprint on the team.  He never gets over excited in interviews and always says what needs to be said and no more.

It shows the impact a manager who has worked with alot of the players at a younger stage can have rather than appointing the big superstar.  The players trust the manager and that is evident in the way the players behave.

I have calmed a bit since my earlier rant but I really do believe Maradona has to be punished to set a precedent otherwise this behaviour is accepted.  Its sad to see someone with such talent behave that way but he is a disgrace to football.
