Coming from sydney was considering confining this thread to the northern qualifiers but the australian way is the more the merrier isn't it?
Personally speaking this is the first satellite qualifier I am any chance of attending , been looking at flights and hotels so guess I'm half way there. Forum posts are not my strong point but willing to check in every other day to get a decent vibe going .

Let's try this:
 1. who are you? poker history or personal or whatever
 2. what are you're personal needs/expectations from the Superstack weekend?
 3. Is your attendance purely a result of qualifying or are you building towards a career in poker?  i.e is this a holiday opportunity or a business one or both?
 4. The mods are great but if there is anything we can help each other with give it a mention and see how it goes. (Let's say upfront no $ talk loans ,ticket transfers etc , and think before you post  as outlined by Alexa in other forum threads check who your talking with.)

I'll go first.

1.Sydney born and bred , started dabbling online years ago when things were supposedly easy but was one of the actual players who deposited and just played for the sake of playing.   Currently have the opportunity to take poker serious  but just don't put in the work that is needed i.e online is a game of statistics but I am more of a purist , any two cards have the potential to win.

2. Cashing would be great and possibly the catalyst to me taking on poker seriously. Good time ,life experience is also a win.

 3. would not have bought in although $300 when you think of it is a great price for the experience after all you pay $100 to go to a show or even to enter a party so if poker is one of your interests $300 is not a big ask . Suppose being a part of aussie poker would be great and 888 is the best product available to us so whatever comes of the weekend . Expect to play some cards and hopefully be invited to a party (HINT HINT Alexa and crew)  Being associated behind the scenes of poker on a professional or social level would be a step in the right direction for me , as i've already said I have hovered around poker for a while and it is the first thing I do as soon I turn on my computer , whether to play or catch up on news it is poker all the time , but , direction is lacking so if this trip gives me an idea or an opportunity I'll be diving in head first and holding my breath for as long as it takes.

4. basically filling in the gaps between getting to the event and in between playing times it would be good to have some like minded people to go along with. If anyone gets this far into the thread and has any local knowledge of Melbourne such as ,  sites of interest , cheap to expensive alternatives for anything from the accomadation to restaurants supermarkets , travel or whatever would be great .

gday peter
i was invited to play THIS last year and had a ball

but unfortunately the POKER experience was sadly lacking

arriving friday morning after being in sydney for the week i caught my CAB straight to the casino [$100]  skybus is only $25 and delivers you to your motel m8]

so thats TIP1

tip2 is ensure your flight lands @ tullamarine and NOT avalon m8

upon arrival i battled to find the POKER ROOMS in the joint coz its SO BIG

found it and went to the poker WINDOW [cashier] to register or confirm seat for play in 6 hours

NO , TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR wont be on duty till 1700 hrs [he really meant if you dont want to buy chips pi ss off!!]

pff i thought  so went to my motel to freshen up and stoke the billy

oki cabbie tells me that the 5min ride from casino to motel @ lunch-time  was going to be a 45min nightmare @peakhour onna friday night in melb.

so arriving at the casino with 10 mins 2 spare i thought great

found the window  , was asked for my casino card for ID , i say what ID card , he says the one ur reg'd with  ,  i say didnt register  was invited to play ,

he says **^#$%@@   oki then please give us ur photo ID and we'll give it back when we provide dealer with the app paperwork

so i look at slip and think table 26  seat 4

looking around i see 4 seperate groupings of players scatterred over a big multi tiered area

found the table and settled in for 2/3 hours of frustrating play
then bang got table changed 7 times until finally settled with my FIRST CONTACT forum  a brief  gday gob oh gday ??  passing thru ntables from a change

3 am  and im thru to day 2 sunday

but STILL no-one makes contact .....................

sunday the same m8 felt a bit like a fish outta water as far as "superstack " or anyone else for that matter

so mate if ya going i intend to go again

personally i feel this series should be run in SYDNEY as the casino is a FAR SUPERIOR EXPERIENCE"

the coupon companies offer some amazing deals on so m8 find as many as you can and get e-mail replies from "melbourne" so you can "bed, feed , excite , n entertain with offers normally 2 for 1 or 50/75% off

i turned my melbourne experience into a ONE  that changed my life

i flew down the straight at flemington inna chopper before heading for a perv over st kilda beach sat arvo [$69] **funded with change from taxi 2 bus for return

i could go on but hey those deals  acomm & exp packages are out there  and youve got plenty o time if you want to plan those in between things

Great tips , Airport is something I would've just assumed there was only none of. Hotels /accomadation seems to be my biggest problem/expense aside from the $2k I promised my wife for shopping . SZtill tossing up whether I sell the ticket or go to the tourney but it is looking like a trip down south for me . Whether anyone gives a shit or not I'll post any progress , bookings  , plans for my time in Melbourne (things to do) etc whenever I can. Cheers Goblin and 888.

P.S. Goblin it looks like you are the 888 forum. Let's get a movement going ,some banter back and forth some strategy talk and before you know it we're cult figures on the 888 payroll.

not me  but the "state of the art"  media centre crown offers has obviously eluded ANY 888 employee or commentator in the past ??

hoping to see changes to their "hospitality as well

with the current PROMOTION  the OZ  factor  being an instant success last nite

and their change of heart regarding exchange rates

one can only hope that the OZ push continues

If I win a ticket? lol.
I would walk there from sydney and sleep in a cardboard box in a car park if I had too.
That's my real plan for the 2013 Aussie millions.
