Terrible day, terrible cards coupled with terrible play. Didn't manage to win even 1 single chip! Was well on way to being blinded out when it got folded to me in MP with 55. Nothing much to do but shove my 25k and got called by the BB with 99, game over. Next time.
Unlucky Bob.

Just got home from 1st SuperStack. Went out in 17th with 14 paid :-(.
Final hand: 4k/8k/500, UTG+1 (day 1 chip leader but had lost a lot and was down to around 140k) raised to 16.5k and had been reasonably active. Folds round to me in BB and I have AKo and 99.5k behind. I opt to shove, and eventually get called by 77. Needless to say I didn't hit despite turning a straight draw. Pretty standard, or should I have played it differently with 2 short stacks (under 50k) at the table?
Hopefully will be back at the one in Nov, was great fun this weekend!

hi Tom,
your move was ok under the circumstances, but you could have seen the flop then make your move (stop & go) or re-evaluate at that time. hindsight is always 20-20 tho. good luck next time
cheers,
papa

Bad luck Tom especially with you being so close to making the cash.

As for playing it differently, it comes down to what you're playing for. If you want to win I think you made the right play, which would have left you in a nice position. If you just want to cash then you can sit and wait. But then you'd perhaps limp into the cash and be sitting there kicking yourself that you could have had a bigger stack if you hadn't folded AK earlier.

Cheers for the views on the hand. Was a difficult one as its certainly not a bad beat or anything like that, but could be played differently perhaps. Struggled to figure out what was optimal on reflection.
My thought process was that a raise would have essentially meant I was comiting about a 1/3 of my stack and have left me with a very awkward situation on the flop, especially if he bets out, essentially leaving me pot committed. A call I thought at first was possibly the right move, but as he was pretty active and good player would have looked pretty weak.
I was definitely looking at going as deep as possible in the tournament, and with not much over 10BB may have not even made a min cash with conservative play.
Really enjoyed the 2 days of poker overall, seemed like a really friendly bunch that play these events.
